Reverie Therapy is a neurodivergent-affirming practice that welcomes LGBTQ2S+ clients. We provide inclusive support for individuals in relationships that expands beyond traditional "couple" definitions and honour each person's right to gender self-determination.
Whether you choose to connect virtually, on the phone or in person, at Reverie Therapy, our couples/relationship counselling sessions aim to support you through focused time with your partner. You will be guided with warmth, provided with evidence-based tools and resources, and gently challenged to explore and reconnect with one another, alongside Registered Clinical Counsellor Jess Preston. Integrating evidence-based treatments such as Gottman Method, attachment theory and Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT), your therapist will tailor sessions to fit the needs of your relationship. This offering is designated for couples to rest in the care of the therapeutic relationship, receive tools and resources, collaborate on therapeutic goals, and much more.
Typically, couples sessions are held bi-weekly or monthly.
50 or 80-minute sessions available.
Working with first responder families is personal to Jess Preston, RCC. Both lived and professional experience in the first responder world shape Jess’s approach to this work, which means that your work culture is understood from the inside. The unwritten rules, the dark humour that keeps you functional, the exhaustion that doesn't show up on your face, and the particular weight that falls on the partner at home who loves someone in the thick of it. You won't need to translate your world here, and neither will they.
When one or both partners are police or RCMP, paramedics, firefighters, or frontline healthcare workers, relationships face pressures that standard couples' approaches don't always account for. Shift work, occupational trauma, hypervigilance, and the deeply ingrained habit of emotional self-sufficiency can quietly erode connection at home, even in relationships that are otherwise strong.
Using an integrative blend of Gottman Method, attachment theory, and Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT) and more, sessions are tailored to the specific dynamics that first responder families navigate. Whether you connect virtually or in person, the work is grounded, practical, and shaped around your reality.
Typically, couples sessions are held weekly or biweekly to begin.
50 or 80-minute sessions available.
Whether you choose to connect virtually, on the phone or in person, at Reverie Therapy, our individual counselling sessions aim to empower you by providing a safe, confidential space to explore personal challenges and emotions. This offering is designed for individuals who are seeking space to rest in the care of the therapeutic relationship, receive tools and resources, collaborate on therapeutic goals, and much more.
